Rudraksha is said to be originated from the teardrops of Rudra. Rudra is a fearful full form of Bhagwan Shiva. 17 face rudraksha is governed by Katyayani Devi and Bhagwan Vishwakarma.
Katyayani Devi incarnated to kill Mahisasur by the divine grace of Brahma-Vishnu-Mahesh. She was incarnated as a daughter of sage Kātyāyana that is why she is known as Katyayani Devi.
